Mohamed Salah has again caused controversy after the publication of a family photo for Christmas, where he appears with his wife and daughters near the festive tree, wishing: "Merry Christmas".
The post received over 500,000 likes and 50,000 comments within minutes, but was followed by criticism from some Muslims who accused it of violating religious principles.
"Who makes you do this?", "Delete this, Mo!" and "Post something about Palestine" were some of the negative comments.
Salah, who has made this wish for the third time, has previously clarified that as a Muslim believer he finds nothing wrong with observing the holidays of his Christian followers.
On the other hand, many have appreciated the gesture as a positive example of interfaith respect and coexistence. (A2 Televizion)
