Hedy Lamarr, the glamorous star of Hollywood's golden age, was not only one of the most beautiful women in cinema, but also one of the most extraordinary inventors of the 20th century. In an era where women rarely had room for more than just beauty, Hedy excelled as an actress, engineer, and inventor.

Born in Vienna in 1914 as Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler, she became famous for her role in the film "Ecstasy", where she appeared nude - the first in the history of cinema. After a forced marriage to arms industrialist Fritz Mandl, from whom she learned a lot about Nazi military technology, Hedy fled to the United States. During the trip, she signed a contract with the giant MGM and immediately became an undisputed star in Hollywood, writes A2 CNN.

But fame and beauty weren't enough for her, writes A2. During World War II, in collaboration with composer George Antheil, she invented a frequency communication system that avoided interference - technology that was later used in the development of WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.

She also worked on improving aircraft design and collaborated with Howard Hughes on technological developments. Hedy often avoided big holidays to work on her inventions at home.

In honor of her contribution, Austria declared November 9th “Inventor’s Day.” Lamarr is living proof that beauty and intelligence can coexist – a woman who left an indelible mark on art and science. (A2 Televizion)
