Saudi Arabia is preparing to deliver an extraordinary travel experience with its first five-star luxury train, the “Dream of the Desert.” This ambitious project, developed in collaboration between Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) and Italian luxury brand Arsenale SpA, is expected to make its debut in the fall of 2026.
Designed by renowned architect Aline Asmar d'Amman, the train will embody Saudi heritage and culture, bringing a refined combination of modernity and tradition, writes A2 CNN. Design elements are inspired by the stunning landscapes of historical sites such as AlUla, Madain Saleh and Hail, creating a unique and elegant environment for passengers.
The dominant colors in the interior will be shades of gold, beige and dark tones, combined with chrome reflections that reflect the desert landscapes outside. The reception hall is designed in the style of traditional Arabian rooms where guests are received, with geometric motifs and hand-carved wooden elements. The suites and bedrooms will have a richer style, including Art Deco details with emerald-hued sofas and curtains, wood paneling and clean architectural lines.
The train will consist of 14 carriages and will offer 34 suites for its passengers. In addition to the sophisticated surroundings, a restaurant curated by local and international chefs will serve selected dishes to complement the exclusive travel experience.
The “Dream of the Desert” itinerary will cover a distance of 1,300 kilometers, connecting the capital Riyadh to Qurayyat, near the northern border with Jordan. Along the way, the train will also stop in the historic city of Hail, offering one- or two-night trips. In partnership with the Saudi Ministry of Culture, the train will also offer curated cultural programs and sightseeing itineraries integrated into the travel experience.
Arsenale Group CEO Paolo Barletta described the project as a "totally immersive experience" and "an incomparable travel experience" for visitors. (A2 Televizion)
