Mysterious field circles have been discovered again in Wiltshire, one of the world's most notorious areas for UFO-related phenomena. Two new strange formations were spotted in mid-May near the village of Sutton Veny, just 13 miles from Stonehenge, and another in Dorset, about 30 miles away.
The first formation, discovered on May 15, consisted of a perfect geometric design resembling a Celtic knot or four-pointed star inside a circle. On May 19, another intricate pattern was found in Dorset, with geometric figures inside two overlapping circles, writes A2 CNN.
These formations, known as "crop circles," are large shapes that appear suddenly in wheat or corn fields, usually at night. Many consider them to be works of art or organized pranks, but UFO conspiracy theorists believe they are messages from extraterrestrials.
While some formations are accepted as being created by humans with simple tools, others remain unexplained. Some witnesses even report strange lights over the fields shortly before these figures were formed, writes A2 CNN.
Wiltshire remains the epicentre of this phenomenon in the UK, with over 380 circles recorded since 2005. The phenomenon usually occurs between May and August, when the plants are tall.
While the owner of the field where the Celtic knot was found was upset about the damage to his crops, he decided to allow visitors in for a small donation.
Monique Klinkenbergh, director of a crop circle exhibition in Wiltshire, told the BBC: "There is really a mystery - some of them are created within minutes from an invisible source."
Although many believe in the extraterrestrial origin of these formations, others such as Doug Bower and Dave Chorley have admitted since the 1990s that they have created more than 200 of them themselves with simple tools. Students at MIT in the US have also created similar models for research purposes. (A2 Televizion)
