Hollywood has been shocked by the news that legendary actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, have been found dead in their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Local authorities are reporting no signs of foul play, writes A2 CNN.
Hackman, who celebrated his 95th birthday in January, was one of cinema's most respected stars. He rose to fame in 1967 with the film "Bonnie and Clyde" and went on to star in iconic films such as "The French Connection," "Superman," "Get Shorty" and "Unforgiven," for which he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
After a distinguished career, he retired from acting in 2004, focusing his attention on writing novels. According to him, acting had caused him great stress, which also affected his health.
He and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, had stayed out of the public eye for decades. Only last year were they seen in public again after 21 years, during a dinner at a restaurant in Santa Fe. (A2 Televizion)
