History will not forget this decision!

By Lutfi DERVISHI

Hashim Thaçi's father will be buried without his son. The Special Court has not given him permission to attend the funeral. They are not allowing him to stand by the coffin, to place his hand on his brother's shoulder, to say one last word about the man who raised him, and to lay a hand on the coffin!

The decision is a heavy blow. Not only for the Thaçi family, but for all those who believed that justice should be fair.

To prevent a son from receiving the last rites is inhumane. It is not even punishment. It is contempt. It is an act that has nothing to do with the law. Or it has only to do with the law applied too coldly, amorally.

Indignation. Revolt. These words do not describe the pain caused by such unjust justice. Anyone who has lost a parent understands the weight of this tragedy. A people who have gone through war, flight, poverty, oppression and deprivation know what human loss means. And I know that in that last moment, a person has the right to be with their family.

But not this time.

Not for a man who fought and looked death in the eye. Not for a man who is on trial. Not for an Albanian who has been held in The Hague for 4 years now and who knows how long.

The Special Chambers are showing Kosovo that Kosovo should never have approved their establishment, that there is no room for feelings when it comes to them. There is no room for humanity. There is no room for logic. There are only cold rules, dry decisions, and a clear purpose: to humiliate, to break, to deny any kind of dignity, to equate the criminal who burned, destroyed, raped, expelled, and those who only defended themselves.

But can dignity be denied? Can Albanians stop remembering and honoring their dead?

No.

Because this is not just a personal matter. This is not just about Hashim Thaçi. This is about Kosovo. For what it represents, for the sacrifice of a war that cannot be hidden by court decisions.

Justice cannot be just punishment. Justice cannot be just for one party. And above all, justice cannot deny what is most fundamental for a human being: to say the last goodbye.

This denied presence is a nail not in the coffin of Baca Haxhi, but in the future of Kosovo.

History will remember this day. And it will not forget it. (A2 Televizion)
