The High Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has opened an investigation into the unfurling of a flag with the emblem of the Kosovo Liberation Army at the largest protest ever held in Serbia, Serbian public television reports, specifying that police have been ordered to identify the people who waved it on March 15 in Belgrade, along with NATO, EU and LGBT flags.
According to the prosecutor's office's announcement, "a request has been sent to the Serbian police to collect the necessary information, with an order to take all actions and operational measures in accordance with the legal powers for the criminal prosecution of the perpetrators of the criminal offense of inciting national, racial and religious hatred and intolerance under Article 317 of the Criminal Code."
However, the context of the unfurling of the KLA flag is unclear, as it also features a shadow of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, suggesting that it may have been used to claim that Vučić is Albanian by father, as has been shown by several other protestor banners. (A2 Televizion)
