The Mayor of Ulcinj, Genci Nimanbegu, said that the National Day of the Ulcinj Municipality on Saturday, April 5th, will not be celebrated with a formal session, but in the form of a protest.
"As you know, the first Saturday of April is Ulcinj Day. A very symbolic day when the harvest and work in the olive groves end and the sailing season begins. Although this should be a solemn day, after what has happened and continues to happen, for supposedly dizzying investments and the development of Ulcinj, I think there is no room for a festive atmosphere. I think it is time to raise our voices, to come out together with you in a grand protest, to protect Ulcinj from decisions that are being made without us being asked and without you being heard. In this protest, we want your voice, that of your children, to be heard, in this protest I want you to support each other," said the head of the coastal municipality.
According to him, thousands of citizens will come out at 12:00 at the place called Plazhi i Vogël against the decisions the government has made regarding investments on the coast.
"So on Saturday, let's mark Ulcinj Day with a grand protest, and not with a solemn Assembly and not with other activities, despite the fact that we had prepared everything. Honorable citizens, all the political forces of the municipality have decided that the solemn meeting of the Ulcinj Municipal Assembly will not be held in a solemn form, but in the form of a protest. For this reason, I invite you on Saturday, at 12:00, to show the government that if it does not want to listen to the 33 councilors of the Assembly, we, thousands of citizens, are here to give it our messages."
