Serbia and Hungary have signed a defense agreement. The signing of the military agreement is seen as a countermeasure to the trilateral agreement between Albania, Kosovo and Croatia. The agreement on strategic cooperation in the defense field was signed at the Presidential Palace between Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić and Hungarian Defense Minister Krzysztof Bobrovnicki.
The signing of this agreement was also attended by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. In his speech, Vučić emphasized that the main elements of this agreement are military cooperation, which is reflected through the implementation of bilateral exercises, as well as military-technical cooperation in the field of procurement of systems and weapons.
"The document signed by the two ministers concretizes the agreement on strategic cooperation in the field of defense reached in 2023. We have agreed on the largest number of activities for this year. So far, there are 79 of them, almost twice as many as in 2023 when we had 48. What we have agreed with our Hungarian friends is of great importance to us," Vučić said.
For his part, the Hungarian Minister of Defense thanked President Vučić for signing the agreement and noted that Serbia and Hungary always consult with each other.
"Serbia is not in the EU, but we have consultations at the highest level. Since 2023 we have expanded cooperation to include military cooperation and today we have moved to the plan for 2025. We contribute to the excellent cooperation between the two countries. Hungary is always on the side of peace and Serbia is Hungary's ally in this process," said Krzysztof Bobrovnicki.
Serbia and Hungary have a special relationship between them, as two countries that do not accept immigration from Middle Eastern countries. The signed document in the field of defense concretizes the agreement for strategic cooperation in the field of defense reached in 2023. (A2 Televizion)
