An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 has shaken the residents of Ioannina in Greece. According to data from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the earthquake occurred around 14:33 local time near Ioannina, at a shallow depth of 10 km. There are currently no reports of injuries.
A day ago, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 Richter was recorded in Greece, causing panic among the residents of the area.
According to EMSC, the epicenter of the earthquake was 38 km northwest of Patra, at a depth of 10 km.
Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones because they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter and depth of the earthquake may be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and make their calculations.
Based on preliminary seismic data, the earthquake should not have caused significant damage, but it was felt by many people as a slight tremor in the area of the epicenter. (A2 Televizion)
