Tragedy with 59 victims in RMV, security measures given for former Minister of

Former Minister of Economy, Kreshnik Bekteshi, will be remanded in custody for the next 48 hours, as will the former director of the Market Inspectorate, after the court accepted the prosecution's request.

The Kocani Court has accepted the prosecution's request to send Bekteshi to "short detention", along with seven other suspects, while it is still awaited to determine which prison he will be sent to.

Bekim Maksuti, the former director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, was also given 48 hours of detention.

The nightclub where the tragedy occurred in North Macedonia was using a forged license. According to Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, the license was issued last year by officials from the Ministry of Economy.

"Many questions need to be answered," said Mickoski, who promised accountability at all levels.

The Prime Minister of North Macedonia said: "At the moment we have information that at the time of the tragic accident there was a forged license, issued in March 2024 in exchange for a bribe. It is a working document for a cabaret, issued illegally, with the original seal of the Ministry of Economy and the signature of the then officials of this ministry. There are many questions, to which the investigation will provide answers," said Hristijan Mickoski. (A2 Televizion)
