Vucevic requests FBI and FSB: Investigate allegations of use of sonic cannons

Serbia officially requests the involvement of the American FBI and the Russian FSB in the investigations into the use or not of the sound cannon in the grand protest of March 15 in Belgrade.

Resigned Prime Minister Miloš Vučević said that he has sent requests to the security services of these countries through the Serbian embassies in Washington and Moscow.

"With the greatest responsibility I can say that, on March 15, at no location was a sonic cannon or anything similar used. No order was issued for it and no one saw that device. It is impossible for there to be no health injuries at the moment that device is used. It causes immediate consequences," said Miloš Vučević.

Earlier, the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that Minister Ivica Dacic had sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel, inviting him to assist with expertise in the field of using devices that emit sound waves.

As stated, the request was made considering that the Ministry of Interior has faced public and media accusations that its members used 'sonic cannons' during a public rally held in Belgrade on March 15.

Dacic told the "Danas" portal that the police possess sonic weapons, or "sonic cannons", and that these systems, which were purchased in 2021, are owned by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Previously, senior Serbian state officials insisted that neither the police nor the army possess “sonic cannons.” This is a non-lethal weapon that emits strong sound waves in a specific direction and can cause disorientation, headaches and nausea in those affected, but depending on the intensity and duration of the emission, permanent hearing damage is a possible consequence.
