30,000 soldiers from European Union countries are ready to land in Ukraine. Sources for the well-known American media, "The Washington Post" are considering this project in order to prevent a last-minute secret pact between Russia and the United States to the detriment of Ukraine.

According to the Post, the European plan would call for a "deterrent" force of several brigades, perhaps 25,000-30,000 soldiers, who would not be deployed along the front line with Russia, but would be ready to intervene as a show of force if Russian forces tried to resume the war, A2 reports.

European requests from the US would include intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, as well as possible air cover or some kind of air defense assistance to protect the force, said the sources, who agreed that US support would be crucial and that they would welcome clear warnings from Washington to Russia, whether public or private, against any attempt to attack the force or reignite a full-scale conflict.

Another key question for Europeans is how to respond if Russia were to attack the European force: on the table is the possibility of introducing a mutual defense clause between countries involved in the European coalition, which would not operate under the NATO flag.

Meanwhile, Ukraine wants Europe to quickly appoint a representative for potential peace negotiations with the United States and Russia, said Ihor Zhovkva, deputy head of Volodymyr Zelensky’s office, according to Bloomberg. “It should be a decision made quickly,” Zhovkva said.

"I hope immediately after the Paris meeting. We need to act, not reflect," he added. (A2 Televizion)
