Ayatollah still has not accepted Iran-Israel ceasefire

Yesterday, several senior Iranian officials and bodies, including the President, confirmed the ceasefire between Iran and Israel.

According to foreign media, however, there has not yet been any public admission from the individual considered the most powerful figure in the country, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The supreme leader usually has the final say on state matters, and eyes inside and outside Iran remain focused on when he will comment on the ceasefire.

Khamenei is said to have moved from his usual residence in central Tehran and is now taking refuge in a secure bunker, but this has not been confirmed by Iran, writes A2 CNN.

He last appeared on state television on June 18 in a pre-recorded message, in which he rejected US President Donald Trump's call for Tehran's "unconditional surrender".

Although his official accounts on the 'X' social network had been active before the ceasefire, he has not been seen in public since Israel's attack on Iran on June 13, when another pre-recorded message was broadcast after the attack.

The most recent images showing him in a public setting date back to June 11, during a meeting with members of the Iranian parliament. (A2 Televizion)
