Donald Trump has given a speech that began with a minute of silence for the plane crash that occurred in Washington, where a passenger plane collided with a military helicopter.
According to foreign media, the President says this is a "hour of anguish for our nation" and a "true tragedy."
He says a "massive search and rescue operation" has been underway, writes A2 CNN. "Sadly there are no survivors," Trump confirms.
"As one nation, we grieve for every precious soul that has been taken from us so suddenly," Trump said.
He says the tragedy "has really shocked a lot of people," including those from other countries whose citizens were on board the plane.
The President expresses his and the First Lady's condolences to the families of the victims.
"We don't know what led to this clash, but we have some very strong opinions and ideas," Trump says, vowing to make sure nothing else like it happens again.
Trump then began attacking Barack Obama and Joe Biden, claiming that they have weakened standards for air traffic controllers.
"I put security first. Obama, Biden and the Democrats put politics first," he says.
"They're taking politics to a level that nobody has ever seen," Trump added. He says "their politics were terrible."
Trump also says that when he returned to office this month he signed executive orders that "restored the highest standards of air traffic." (A2 Televizion)
