A tour bus fell into the Po River near Piazza Vittorio Veneto in the city of Turin on Tuesday afternoon, partially sinking. It hit three women who were walking on the sidewalk and broke the stone parapet along Corso Cairoli, ending up submerged in water.
From the evidence collected, it appears that the bus was traveling on the opposite side of the road.
The driver of the vehicle was found alive by firefighters on a speedboat, but ultimately doctors were unable to save him. He was the only person on board when the vehicle ended up in the Po River.
Firefighters broke the windows to see if there were other people inside the bus, but fortunately they found no one.
Meanwhile, the three injured pedestrians were transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital and are out of danger.
The bus that ended up in the river was owned by the company "Di Carlo Tours e Guglionesi", from the province of Campobasso.
Investigators suspect that the driver may have suffered a sudden illness while driving. Several fire and rescue teams, as well as paramedics, local police, who are responsible for investigating the incident, and the Carabinieri, have intervened at the scene. The area was also patrolled for a long time by the Drago helicopter of the provincial fire department's flight department. (A2 Televizion)
