Hours after Rubio threatened that the US was ready to leave the talks, Vice

More mixed messages are coming from the US, with Vice President JD Vance now saying he is "optimistic" that peace in Ukraine can be achieved, just hours after Marco Rubio said Washington was ready to walk away from the talks due to a lack of progress.

According to foreign media, the vice president made the comments while meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome.

"Since there are negotiations, I will not prejudge them, but we feel optimistic that we can hopefully end this war, this very brutal war," he told reporters sitting alongside Meloni, writes A2 CNN.

Trump said yesterday that he felt a ceasefire was "close" and that Moscow was determined to get back to him immediately regarding a final proposal, but Rubio this morning threatened to "move on" if immediate progress was not made. (A2 Televizion)
