The entry into force of new US tariffs would hit Italian manufacturers hard, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in Rome, adding that every effort must be made to avoid a trade war.
“It is clear that imposing new tariffs would have serious consequences for Italian producers,” said Italian Prime Minister Meloni. Meloni, a Trump friend who has been more cautious than other EU leaders about how the bloc should react to the tariffs, said she did not rule out “adequate responses” to protect Italian products.
