A 24-year-old man was arrested in Washington, in the Capitol Hill area, on charges of wanting to kill House Speaker Mike Johnson, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
International media reports that Ryan English approached police near the entrance to Congress. After a search, he was found with a pocket knife and a Molotov cocktail, while another bomb was found in his car.
The arrest took place on Monday evening. He later admitted that he had left Massachusetts with the intention of killing Johnson, Bessent and Hegseth, whom he described as "Nazis."
Since January 2024, Capitol Police have confiscated more than 50 weapons outside Congressional buildings that were illegally located on Capitol grounds. (A2 Televizion)
