Israel: President Trump has invited Prime Minister Netanyahu to the White House

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been invited by US President Donald Trump for a meeting at the White House on February 4, the Israeli office said on Tuesday.

"Netanyahu is the first foreign leader to be invited to the White House in Trump's second term," the statement said.

A White House official confirmed the invitation and said the meeting would take place "early next week."

"Details will be made public when finalized," the official said.

The meeting between Trump and Netanyahu comes after the US president declared that he was responsible for achieving the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, after several months of unsuccessful negotiations.

Hamas is a Palestinian group that rules Gaza, designated a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union.

Throughout his first term, Trump has often said that Israel "has never had a better friend in the White House," and this has often been affirmed by Netanyahu.

Shortly after starting his second term, Trump approved the sending of 2,000 bombs to Israel, although former President Joe Biden had not allowed such a thing.

Netanyahu has welcomed Trump for offering Israel what he considered "equipment" to defend itself./ REL (A2 Televizion)
