Israel is expected to continue intense fighting for at least two months after the brief ceasefire reached a day earlier. The news was announced by the Israeli Minister of Defense.
Yoav Gallant made the remarks during a speech in front of troops of the Israeli Navy's special operations unit on Thursday.
"What you will see in the coming days is the first release of hostages. This break will be short.”
He told troops to "organize, prepare, investigate, resupply and prepare to move on" during the ceasefire.
"There will be a continuation, because we must complete the victory and create the impetus for the next groups of hostages, who will only return as a result of the pressure. At least two more months of fighting are expected," he added.
We recall that the Israeli army and Hamas militants put down their weapons at 7 a.m. on Friday, to make room for the exchange of 50 Israeli hostages in total with 150 Palestinian prisoners. The details of this ceasefire were worked out by Qatar and Egypt who brokered the four-day peace. (A2 Televizion)
