Expert: US and Israel will avoid responsibility for consequences of attacks on

The US and Israel will avoid responsibility for the consequences of attacks on Iran, says Emile Hokayem, senior fellow for Middle East security at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

According to foreign media, he said the conflict would be a "major shock" to the balance of power in the region.

"There is also a broader expectation that this is about regime change," he said.

"There is a broader understanding that the US and Israel will not take ownership of the problem and that it will be imposed on other players to essentially manage the consequences," he continued, writes A2 CNN.

Speaking on a panel about the war, he noted the differences between the conflict and the 2003 Iraq war.

On the international stage, he noted that in 2003, both France and Germany opposed the invasion of Iraq.

"While reading the G7 statement, one notices broad support for the war - not necessarily support, but approval," he added, writes A2 CNN.

He continued: “There is no possibility of a ground invasion, the goal of regime change is still being debated at very high levels.” (A2 Televizion)
