Egypt and Bangladesh are said to be among the seven countries of origin designated by the European Commission as "safe" for the repatriation of migrants in the provisional list that will be distributed to member states in the coming hours.
This is what emerges from the draft document. The list also includes Colombia, Tunisia, Morocco, India and Kosovo.
Italy rewrote its list on 25 October 2024 by decree, reducing the countries considered safe from 22 to 19. These are: Albania, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Morocco, Montenegro, Serbia, Montenegro. For citizens of safe countries, there is priority consideration of applications for international protection and other important differences in the procedure. (A2 Televizion)
