US President Donald Trump today continued his relentless attacks on the US Agency for International Development (USAID), bluntly calling for the agency to be "abolished".
"Corruption at USAID is at unprecedented levels. Shut it down!" the US president wrote in capital letters in a post on his platform, Truth Social.
The main American agency that distributes humanitarian aid internationally, with a budget of around $40 billion in fiscal year 2023, has ended up under the microscope of the public administration reorganization program, headed by Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, ally and advisor to President Trump.
The reorganization program began to be implemented after the Republican president returned to the White House on January 20.
