US President Donald Trump's administration is considering expanding travel restrictions, potentially banning citizens from 36 more countries from entering the US.

That's according to an internal State Department cable seen by Reuters. Earlier this month, the Republican president signed an order banning entry for citizens from 12 countries, saying the move was necessary to protect the United States from foreign terrorists and other threats to national security.

In an internal diplomatic memo signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the State Department lists a number of concerns about the countries in question and calls for action.

"The State Department has identified 36 countries for which we may recommend a full or partial suspension of travel to the United States if they do not meet certain conditions within 60 days," the cable states.

Among the concerns mentioned is the lack of a competent government to produce reliable documents, or the questionable security of passports from certain countries.

As stated, some countries have not been cooperative in facilitating the deportation of their citizens. Among them are Angola, Egypt, Ghana, South Sudan, Syria, etc. Earlier, the decision to ban travel was taken for countries such as Afghanistan, Myanmar, Iran, Libya, etc. (A2 Televizion)
