G7 leaders are gathering in Canada, where they are expected to discuss the escalation of the war between Iran and Israel, which has entered its 4th day. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said his goals for the summit include preventing Iran from developing and possessing nuclear weapons, guaranteeing Israel's right to defend itself, avoiding an escalation of the conflict and creating space for diplomacy.

On the eve of the summit, European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen said in a joint press conference with Council President Antonio Costa that a negotiated solution on Iran would be the best long-term solution, writes A2 CNN.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei called on France, Germany and the UK to work together to convince Israel to stop its attacks on them. According to him, the European response to the situation is insufficient and politically contradictory. According to Tehran, France, Germany and the UK, signatories to the 2015 nuclear deal, should strongly condemn the Israeli attacks. He said that Iran is considering withdrawing from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, although he stressed that it continues to oppose the development of these weapons. (A2 Televizion)
