Albanian criminal network hit in Brussels, whiskey worth 2 million euros stolen

An Albanian criminal network based in Belgium, which is suspected of having committed seven thefts in France, with a total value of more than two million euros, has been hit by the French gendarmerie.

According to the update, on May 6, six suspects were arrested in Brussels "after their return from Germany," as part of an operation carried out in cooperation with Belgian security services.

The arrested are accused of, on the night of April 16-17, 2024, breaking a container carrying a truck, which was stopped in a car park on a motorway in northern France, and transferring its contents - crates of whiskey - to another truck.

They were forced to flee due to the intervention of Traffic Police officers, who were notified by a truck driver.

Albanians have also been linked to three other incidents that occurred in the same parking lot in March, May and June 2024.

In December, a joint investigation team was formed, due to the methodology followed by the perpetrators and included raid-type operations in France and their return to Belgium.

Investigators had stressed that the perpetrators were "experienced" and "careful."

They used pay phones and radios, while driving vehicles with forged license plates and traveling in convoys on the highways of France, Germany, and Belgium. (A2 Televizion)
