The Last Pope Before the World Disappears... Nostradamus' Scary Prediction

Following the death of Pope Francis on Easter Monday at the age of 88, many people's eyes have turned to the prophecies of Nostradamus, which, according to some interpreters, predicted the death of a "very old Pontiff" and a final successor before a possible end of the Catholic era.

In his famous book Les Prophéties (1555), the French astrologer Michel de Nostredame wrote: “On the death of a very old Pontiff / A Roman of good age will be elected / He will be said to weaken the throne / But he will last long.”

He also described a potential successor as: “A young man with dark skin, with the help of the great king, will hand over the bag to another with red skin.”

These verses have been interpreted as a warning of major changes in the leadership of the Catholic Church, with some even speculating that the next pontificate could be the last before an epochal change.

Pope Francis, the first pope of Latin American origin, faced numerous health problems in the past year, including a severe bout of pneumonia that led to his death. His body will lie in state in St. Peter's Basilica before being buried in Santa Maria Maggiore, unlike most predecessors.

The conclave to elect a new pope will be held in two weeks in the Sistine Chapel. Meanwhile, discussions about ancient prophecies, always open to interpretation, have reignited debates about the future of the Church and the role the new successor might play in a rapidly changing world.
