Israel bombs Gaza Baptist Hospital, Hamas reacts: Israel, US, Britain, Germany

Israeli forces bombed Al Ali Hospital, known as the Baptist Hospital, in northern Gaza City overnight, as doctors rushed to evacuate the sick and wounded following orders given last night.

The attack comes after the Israeli army issued new evacuation orders yesterday evening for residents of the Nuseirat refugee camp in the city center and Khan Younis in the south, after intercepting three rockets coming from the Strip.

According to Al Jazeera, the hospital suffered serious damage, including the emergency room. Videos circulating on social media show violent explosions and the scene that followed: burnt tents, rubble and abandoned stretchers.

Just a few weeks ago, the Israeli army targeted the hospital in Khan Younis. Previously, it had destroyed the Al Shifa medical complex, put the Kamal Adwan Hospital out of action, and repeatedly attacked the Indonesian hospital in the north, A2 CNN reports.

"We are witnessing an attack by Israeli forces on a medical sector that is struggling to continue providing the minimum level of services due to the total humanitarian blockade imposed by Israel since March 2 and the devastating attacks of March 18," health workers denounced to the Qatari broadcaster.

The Palestinian government in the Gaza Strip condemned the Israeli airstrike on the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City earlier today, saying that "warplanes targeted the hospital, bombarding it with numerous missiles," Anadolu reports.

The Gaza Press Office called the action "another horrific crime," saying the hospital, the only one left operating at full capacity in Gaza, was hosting hundreds of patients, the wounded and medical staff. Gaza's Hamas-led government said in a statement that it held "Israel, the United States, as well as the United Kingdom, Germany and France, responsible for the attack."

It also called on the international community, United Nations bodies and humanitarian organizations to denounce the attack and take immediate action "to end the violence and protect health facilities." (A2 Televizion)
