Donald Trump has walked back his statement on relocating Gaza residents to Jordan and Egypt, saying Palestinians would live better in a place "where there is no violence."
"I would like them to go to an area where they can live without unrest, revolution and violence," the US president told reporters aboard Air Force One.
Asked if this position means he no longer believes in a two-state solution, Trump avoided answering directly, saying he would discuss the issue with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he comes to Washington to meet him.
Two confidential sources told the Times of Israel yesterday that Netanyahu's office is planning for the prime minister to travel to Washington on Sunday, where he will meet with Trump earlier in the week before returning to Israel on Wednesday.
The trip has not yet been finalized and will depend on the health of Netanyahu, who is recovering from prostate surgery. (A2 Televizion)
