The Catholic Church is experiencing its first Sunday without Pope Francis. In anticipation of the start of the Conclave, which will elect Bergoglio's successor, the rites continue.

On Sunday, April 27, the Liturgy includes two small changes dictated by the absence of the Pope. The first, in the prayer of the faithful. In this case, the first intention is always for the Pope. In this case, the name of the Pope is not read. The same thing happens during the Mystery of Faith. Before we arrive at Communion, there is a part of the Liturgy in which it is said: "Now, remember all those for whom we are offering you this sacrifice: your servant and our Pope N., our Bishop N., the college of bishops, all the clergy, those who join in our offering, those present and your people, and all the people who seek."

The Vatican estimates that around 200,000 people gathered in St. Peter's Square on Sunday for a memorial mass in honor of the Pope, writes A2.

The St. Peter's Square was at capacity, media reported, citing police authorities. The incident coincided with the Jubilee of the Adolescents, whose original plan included the canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis, who will become the first millennial saint. The rite of canonization of Acutis was suspended after the pope's death, but the mass was confirmed and attended by many young people. Cardinal Pietro Parolin presided over the ceremony, which marked the second day of the 'Novendial', the nine days of prayer that traditionally follow the death of a pope.

Meanwhile, the tomb of the pope, located between the Pauline Chapel (Chapel of Salus Populi Romani) and the Sforza Chapel and located next to the Altar of St. Francis, has been photographed for the first time. Marble from Liguria, the place of origin of the pope's grandparents, was used for its creation, enriched with the single inscription "Franciscus" and a reproduction of his pectoral cross.
