Kremlin: Diplomatic end to war in Ukraine currently seems unlikely

Russia says achieving its goals in Ukraine through diplomatic means "does not seem possible" at the moment.

According to foreign media, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked about comments by President Donald Trump, who said he was disappointed with Vladimir Putin after yesterday's phone call they had together.

"Of course, we pay close attention to all statements by President Trump," Peskov said, writes A2 CNN.

"During the conversation, President Putin reiterated that we are interested in achieving our objectives during the special military operation and, if possible, through political and diplomatic means," Peskov added.

"However, since this does not currently appear possible, we are continuing our special military operation," writes A2 CNN.

He added that Putin told Trump that Russia is still waiting for "coordination of dates" for the third round of direct talks with Ukraine.

Asked if a Trump-Putin meeting is possible this summer, Peskov said such a meeting is "necessary" but must be "well prepared." (A2 Televizion)
