Any British plan to send troops to Ukraine as part of a possible peacekeeping mission would be unacceptable to Russia, the Kremlin said this morning.
According to foreign media, after Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said that British troops could be deployed in Ukraine as part of a peace deal, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the proposal is unacceptable.
He said they would not be accepted by Russia because it would involve forces from a NATO member and therefore would have consequences for Russia's own security, writes A2 CNN.
"The idea of deploying troops from NATO countries in Ukraine is unacceptable for Russia," Peskov said.
Asked about Zelenskyy and Donald Trump's comments, Peskov told reporters that "the rhetoric of Zelenskyy and many representatives of the Kiev regime leaves much to be desired."
"The fact that Zelensky's approval rating is falling is an absolutely obvious trend," Peskov added, repeating a line of attack used against Zelensky by Trump.
Recall that Trump has said several times that Zelenskyy has low popularity ratings in Ukraine, adding that he had only 4% support from Ukrainians.
The Ukrainian president's approval rating is actually around 50%, similar to Trump's, writes A2 CNN.
Responding to the allegations, Zelenskyy said yesterday that Trump was trapped in a "disinformation bubble."
