Cuban authorities have released from prison José Daniel Ferrer García, considered one of the main leaders of dissidence in the Castro government.
The Cuban Observatory for Human Rights reports this in X, noting that Ferrer had been in prison for almost four years and that during his imprisonment he suffered "physical and psychological torture."
Havana announced the start of the gradual release of 553 prisoners from the island's jails earlier this week, as part of an agreement with the United States to remove Cuba from its list of terrorist states. (A2 Televizion)
