President Donald Trump has taken steps to lift restrictions on the flow of water from American showers, imposed during the Obama administration. The White House says the new order will end a “radical green agenda” that it says has made life worse for Americans.
Trump has ordered the Energy Secretary to repeal a rule that prohibited showerheads with multiple outlets from releasing more than 9.5 liters of water per minute. The rule was put in place as part of an energy conservation program by the Obama administration as part of efforts to reduce water and energy waste.
The Trump administration argues that current restrictions have turned a common household appliance into a "bureaucratic nightmare" and that Americans should be free to choose showers according to their preferences, without interference from the federal government.
In a statement issued from the Oval Office, Trump complained that it takes him 15 minutes to wet his “beautiful” hair due to poor water pressure. He has repeated this concern since 2020, emphasizing that his “hair has to be perfect.”
"In my case, I like to take a good shower, to take care of my beautiful hair. I have to stay in the shower for 15 minutes until it gets wet. The water comes out, drip, drip, drip... It's funny.
And you end up washing your hands 5 times more, so you use the same amount of water. And we're going to turn on the water so people can live and hopefully Congress will approve it...", Trump said, writes A2 CNN.
Meanwhile, environmental groups and consumer protection organizations have criticized this decision, emphasizing that regulations established since the 1990s have helped save water and reduce bills for citizens.
The change will take effect 30 days after the Secretary of Energy officially publishes the decision to repeal the existing definition. (A2 Televizion)
