Donald Trump has changed his stance on Russia again. Immediately after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump threatened Russia with sanctions and expressed doubts about the Kremlin leader's willingness to end the war in Ukraine.
During his flight back to the US from Rome, Trump wrote in "Social Truth" that there was no reason for Putin to fire missiles at civilian areas, cities and villages in Ukraine in recent days. " It makes me think: Maybe he doesn't want to end the war at all, but is just getting in my way - and he should be treated differently (...) ," Trump stressed.
The US president cited as an example the so-called secondary sanctions, i.e. measures against third countries, companies or individuals that continue to do business with Russia. He also indicated that he wanted to further disconnect Russia from the international banking system.
Meanwhile, Russia continues its advances on the ground. Moscow announced that it has fully regained control of the Kursk region, a claim immediately disputed by the Ukrainian side. Russia's Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov made the statement in his report to President Vladimir Putin, saying that Russian troops on Friday "liberated" the last settlement under Ukrainian control in Kursk.
In his response to the military report published by the Kremlin, Putin said that Ukraine's offensive in the Kursk region had completely failed and its losses " will certainly be reflected throughout the entire line of combat contact ." He added that the defeat creates conditions for further successful military actions on other fronts. (A2 Televizion)
