Donald Trump loves polls, but this one might be bothering him. According to CNN, the 47th president of the United States' popularity has hit an all-time low after 100 days in office.
According to the American television station, the approval rating for Republican policies is just 41 percent. That would be the lowest of any newly elected president after 100 days since Dwight D. Eisenhower (served from 1953 to 1961) – and also including Trump's own first term (2016 - 2020).
Approval of the Trump administration's handling of the crisis has fallen four points since March 2025 and is seven points lower than at the end of February. Only 22 percent of Americans surveyed say they strongly support the Trump administration, a new low, and about twice as many (45 percent) express "strong disapproval."
The current US president has lost especially among a group of voters that was important for his electoral success in 2024: According to CNN, Trump has lost seven percentage points among Hispanic Americans, where only 28 percent of voters now support his course. Another group of voters also expressed dissatisfaction: only 36 percent of all eligible women support the president.
Party views on Trump remain broadly divided: 86 percent of Republicans support him, while 93 percent of Democrats disapprove. However, among political independents, the president’s approval rating has fallen to 31 percent. This represents his lowest point in his first term in office and is roughly equivalent to his level in January 2021.
Trump himself did not comment on the poll results, and his Truth Social platform also remained silent. But only after the polls were published, Trump reacted but without specifically mentioning CNN. "We no longer have a free and fair press in this country. We have a press that writes bad stories and massively cheats in the polls. It is compromised and corrupt. Sad!" he wrote. Donald J. Trump's second term in office began on January 20, 2025. With over 120 executive orders, a tough and not always legal course on immigration policy and the dismantling of civil rights, the 78-year-old has since divided public opinion in the United States.
