Supreme Leader Khamenei: Assad's fall will not weaken Iran

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, has said that the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria will not weaken his country.

According to foreign media, Khamenei made the comments as he spoke for the first time since the overthrow of his ally Bashar al Assad.

"What happened in Syria was planned mainly in the command rooms of America and Israel. We have evidence of this. A neighboring government of Syria was also involved," he said in a speech reported by Iranian state media.

Khamenei also said Iran's "resistance" would strengthen despite Assad's departure from power.

"The more pressure you put, the stronger the resistance becomes. The more crimes you commit, the more determined it becomes. The more you fight against it, the more it expands," he said, writes A2 CNN.

"I assure you, with divine power, the influence of the resistance will extend throughout the region, more than ever before," he concluded, A2 CNN writes. (A2 Televizion)
