"Ukraine started the war" - Boris Johnson on Trump's statements:

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has spoken out about Donald Trump's false claims that Ukraine started the war with Russia and that Volodymyr Zelenskyy's approval rating is just 4%.

According to foreign media, Johnson, who is pro-Ukrainian and anti-EU, said that Trump's comments "were not intended to be historically accurate," but instead, according to him, were intended to "shock Europeans into action."

"When will we Europeans stop being outraged by Donald Trump and start helping him end this war?" Johnson posted on the social network 'X'.

"Of course Ukraine didn't start the war," he added, saying it would be like claiming the US attacked Japan at Pearl Harbor.

And he dismissed Trump's claim about Zelensky's popularity with Ukrainians and the US President's suggestion that Ukraine hold elections while at war, noting that Britain did not do so during World War II. "We have to get serious," he added.

As for what Europe should do, Johnson pointed to $300 billion in frozen Russian assets, mostly located in Belgium, that "could and should be used to pay Ukraine and compensate the US for its support."

"Why is Europe preventing Putin from melting down his money?" he continued, writes A2 CNN.

"The US believes that Belgium, France and other countries are blocking it. It's absurd. We need to be serious and fast."
