The Russian Foreign Ministry has published a list of statements by officials from various Western countries, including one by President Sergio Mattarella, presented as examples of "hate speech" against Russia.
The statement cited by Mattarella is from a speech at the University of Marseille on February 5, in which he drew a parallel between the German Third Reich's wars of conquest and Russia's attack on Ukraine.
The list was posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry website under the title "Examples of Statements by Officials and Representatives of the Elites of Western Countries on Russia Using Hate Speech." The list includes representatives from 13 countries, members of the EU and NATO, while Mattarella's statement is the only one cited for Italy.
Meanwhile, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has summoned the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Italy to object to the inclusion of President Sergio Mattarella and other Italian institutional officials on the list of suspected "Russophobes".
This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Minister Tajani considers the inclusion of the head of state on this list a provocation towards the Republic and the Italian people and has offered his institutional and personal solidarity to President Mattarella. (A2 Televizion)
