The head of UNRWA, the UN humanitarian agency in Gaza, has said that no one should be surprised that aid is being looted when mothers and fathers have run out of food for their children.
According to foreign media, Philippe Lazzarini said that her people have been "hungry and deprived of basic things, including water and medicine, for more than 11 weeks" during the Israeli blockade.
"The aid that is coming now is like a needle in a haystack," he said, referring to the approximately 100 trucks allowed in by Israel earlier this week, writes A2 CNN.
"500-600 trucks of aid are needed every day, managed through the UN, including UNRWA," he further said.
"During the ceasefire, we brought in an average of 500-600 trucks a day without being diverted or looted," he concluded.
