Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will go to hospital on Sunday to undergo surgery to remove his prostate, his office has announced. The 75-year-old has been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection as a result of a benign enlargement of the prostate, writes A2 CNN, referring to international media.
Earlier this year, he underwent surgery for a hernia and was fitted with a pacemaker last year.
The announcement comes after the Israeli army raided one of the last functioning hospitals in northern Gaza, arresting its director.
Israel has been at war with Hamas for more than 14 months, since the October 7 attacks, in which around 1,200 people were killed and another 250 kidnapped.
More than 45,400 Palestinians, more than half women and children, have been killed and more than 108,000 wounded, according to the Hamas-run Palestinian health ministry, which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants. (A2 Televizion)
