Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that Russia had sufficient power and resources to bring the war in Ukraine to its logical conclusion and as a result, the use of nuclear weapons will not be necessary.

In a film broadcast by state television on Putin's quarter-century as Russia's top leader, titled "Russia, Kremlin, Putin, 25 Years," the Kremlin chief was asked by a journalist about the risk of nuclear escalation from the war in Ukraine.

"They wanted to provoke us, as you said, they wanted us to make mistakes. There was no need to use nuclear weapons and I hope their use will not be necessary. We have sufficient power and goals to achieve what was started in 2022, to a logical conclusion with the demands that Russia is making," Putin said, A2 writes.

Since the start of the war in February 2022, hundreds of thousands of soldiers have been killed or wounded, a fact that has alarmed US President Donald Trump, even though the latter has been unable to end this war.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called Vladimir Putin's offer of a three-day ceasefire to coincide with celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over the Nazis "cynical." "The Russians are calling for silence on May 9, but they themselves are hitting Ukraine every day. This is cynicism of the highest order," he wrote on Telegram.

Meanwhile, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has made a harsh threat to Ukraine in the event of an attack on Moscow during the celebrations of victory in World War II on May 9. No one can guarantee that the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, will survive until May 10, the former president and prime minister said on Saturday on the Telegram short messaging service. (A2 Televizion)
