French authorities have rescued 107 migrants who were trying to cross the English Channel to reach Great Britain on Christmas Day.
The Maritime Prefecture of the English Channel and the North Sea announced that along the northern coast of France, 12 rescue operations were organized to help migrants in difficulty.
According to Pas-de-Calais authorities, this year has been marked as the deadliest for Channel crossings, with at least 73 deaths so far. Attempts to cross the dangerous route have increased significantly, with tens of thousands of migrants arriving in Britain during 2024.
Meanwhile, the British government has stepped up measures to crack down on human trafficking networks in an effort to curb the number of migrants reaching its shores. (A2 Televizion)
