The United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly approved resolutions calling for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and supporting UNRWA, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, whose activities Israel has tried to block.
The votes were 158 to 9 with 13 abstentions to call for an immediate ceasefire and 159 to 9 with 11 abstentions to support UNRAA.
The vote capped two days of speeches, mostly in favor of ending the 14-month war between Israel and Hamas. Israel and its close ally, the United States, were in the small minority that opposed the resolutions. (A2 Televizion)
