Pope Francis has called on the Syrian rebels who toppled the regime of President Bashar al Assad to stabilize the country and govern in a way that "will promote the stability and unity of the country".
"I pray that the Syrian people live in peace and security in their beloved land and that the different religions walk together in friendship and mutual respect for the good of that nation stricken by so many years of war," he said during his weekly speech in the Vatican, writes A2 CNN.
We remember that Muslims make up about 90% of the population of Syria. The Vatican estimates there are about 300,000 Catholics in a population of about 25 million.
During the last days, Syria has turned into an 'arena' of clashes between different groups and states, for certain interests.
We recall that a few days ago, the opposition rebels managed to finalize their action, making it possible to topple the regime of President Assad, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
