"I have heard how both sides are suffering. Wars do that, but here we have gone beyond wars: this is not war, it is terrorism." This is what Pope Francis declared at the end of the general audience, while calling for peace.
"Please let us move forward for peace, let us pray for peace," Pope Francis told them.
He stated that he had met the Israeli and Palestinian delegations and asked them to pray for peace.
"This morning I received two delegations, one of Israelis who have relatives hostage in Gaza and another of Palestinians who have relatives imprisoned in Israel. They suffer a lot, I heard how they both suffer. Pray a lot for peace. God lay down his hand, may God help us to solve the problems and not go forward with the passions that in the end kill everyone. We pray for the Palestinian people, we pray for the Israeli people, that peace may come," concluded the Pope.
