Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called a meeting between US and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia "constructive" and said a possible 30-day ceasefire with Russia could be used to reach "a broader peace agreement."
At a conference in Kiev, Zelenskyy said Ukraine supports US efforts to end the Russian occupation as soon as possible.
"I am very serious about a ceasefire and it is important to me that the war ends. I want the President of the United States to see it, I want the Americans to see it and feel it. I want Europe and everyone to be in alliance in order to do everything to force Russia to end this war. We are ready for a ceasefire for 30 days as proposed by the American side.
As for security guarantees, we will talk about them in more detail if there is a ceasefire for 30 days. These 30 days are given to prepare a draft. We have our proposals, but we will work out the steps that will be agreed with our allies and the formats of security guarantees that Ukraine will have after the end of the war. "Today, everything depends on whether Russia wants to cease fire or continue to kill people. Today, it depends entirely on this country. The United States of America demonstrated its steps and its position. Ukraine demonstrated and described its positions in a very direct way, without any reservations. And Russia will have to answer for this," he said. (A2 Televizion)
