The owner of a Volkswagen Golf 5 must pay 200 thousand euros in parking fees even though his car costs no more than 5 thousand euros!
German media reported that after a year parked in the Berlin airport area, the car was removed by the authorities, but the parking fee for it exceeded 200 thousand euros. The Golf had occupied a place in the airport's short-term parking area since January 2024. Although the first ten minutes of parking are free, the hourly fee is very high, 23 euros per hour, which has led to this staggering amount.
Despite the fact that many interested parties, including the airport management, APCOA Deutschland GmbH (the parking management company), the local police and the local district office, were informed of the situation, no one took responsibility for the abandoned vehicle. The vehicle remained stationary in a prominent location, opposite the terminal building.
On the morning of January 28, 2025, at around 10:45 a.m., the vehicle was stolen. Meanwhile, the identity of the car's owner remains unknown and there is speculation that the vehicle may have been stolen, as the license plate being investigated does not match the Golf. (A2 Televizion)
