Vladimir Putin has moved at least four Tu-95MS heavy bombers closer to Europe this Monday, according to a report from Insider UA.
These strategic aircraft are frequently used to bomb Ukraine, and are reportedly loaded with missiles, creating a "high probability" of an imminent attack.
If confirmed, the move comes after Donald Trump ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines near Russia, following a threat of nuclear war from the Kremlin's close ally, Dmitry Medvedev.
"American submarines are now where they need to be," Trump said late Sunday.
Putin initially moved the Tu-95MS jets from the Olenya air base in the Arctic region of Murmansk after a daring drone attack by Ukraine on June 1. They were also moved from Engels-2 in the Saratov region due to fears of Ukrainian attacks. The planes were sent to Russia’s Ukrainka air base in the Amur region, 5,900 kilometers east of Moscow, where they were considered safe from attack, but it appears that some of them are returning as a threat to Europe.
"Russia has transferred bombers from the Far East closer to Ukraine. At least 4 Tu-95MS aircraft have been repositioned from Ukrainka to Olenya/Engels-2. Some of the aircraft are already equipped with cruise missiles. These aircraft are part of Russia's nuclear arsenal, but are also used to strike Ukraine with conventional bombs," the Insider UA report states.
All of these developments come in a week when Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, is expected to travel to Russia. Witkoff will arrive in Moscow on Wednesday, before the US imposes sanctions on the Kremlin if it does not take a step towards a ceasefire and talks to end the war. (A2 Televizion)
